EarthCam Deployment

The City of Pharr and EarthCam have teamed up to offer the first webcam service viewable south of Corpus Christi, Texas. This partnership will allow for any visitor to the Pharr website or the EarthCam website to actively view whats going on in various locations around the city.20141205_110700

The Innovation & Technology department has been working with the Pharr Television department; which purchased three cameras this year on the setup and configuration of the pilot camera that has been installed at Business 83 and Cage Blvd. This location was selected by Roy Garcia, External Affairs Director in hopes to promote visitors to the camera to see Pharr’s downtown area.

Pharr has plans to install two additional cameras around the city over the next month and will then showcase them on our main website (pharr-tx.gov) to help promote the city to those in and out of the valley.

Other cities and companies use EarthCam to profile themselves. In New York City, there is an EarthCam installed on the Statue of Liberty and in New Jersey, they installed EarthCams to monitor traffic flow.

This is an innovative project said Jason Arms, Pharrs Innovation & Technology director. We are glad to be working with a fellow department on the deployment on this new technology that will help show the world how special our city is, Arms added.
